We are sorry to announce that sculptor and medallist Elisabeth Koster died on 14 May 2016 at the age of ninety. Elisabeth trained at Kingston School of Art and then at the Royal College of Art, where she met her husband Sydney Birnie Stewart, also a sculptor. As well as making medals, she worked in wood, ceramic and linoleum, and produced religious works, including tabernacles. Her medal, The World’s my Oyster, was issued by BAMS in 2002. For many years Elisabeth was a regular attender at BAMS conferences, and she will long be remembered for her smiling presence and enthusiasm for the medallic medium.
