Accommodation at The Royal Station Hotel (www.royalstationhotel.com)
Opened by Queen Victoria and Prince Albert in 1858, the hotel combines elegant Victorian architecture with up to date facilities. Full breakfast is included. Guests can enjoy the leisure club facilities which include a heated indoor pool, sauna and steam room, as well as a fully equipped gymnasium. The hotel is beside the main rail station and has good transport links. There is Taxi rank nearby, and there is easy access to the Metro and local bus services. Quaylink buses operate from outside the station.
A travel card for use on Metro and Quaylink buses and valid for Saturday and Sunday is included in the conference fee and will be handed out at conference.

11.15-12.00 Contemporary Irene Brown, artist and lecturer Tyneside Sculpture
12.00-12.45 Recent sculpture Peter Randall-Page, sculptor projects Delegates might like to take a short walk to Trinity Gardens where Peter’s monumental granite sculpture Give and Take is situated.
13.00-14.00 Buffet lunch in Collingwood Room

14.00 Depart for Laing Gallery
14.30 Introductory talk & walk with curator Julie Milne, followed by the opportunity to explore the collections by ourselves.
15.30 Tea Served in the Function Room at Laing Gallery.
16.00-17.00 At the Laing, or a chance to change for dinner. Delegates might also wish to visit the Hatton Gallery (last admission 16.45 closes 17.00) to see Karl Schwitters’s Merzbarn.

(the exhibition galleries will close at 18.00, so do arrive in time to look around if you so wish).
18.00-19.00 Drinks reception in The Riverside Restaurant. Andrew Lovett of The Baltic will welcome us and say a few words about this stunning exhibition space.
19.00-22.00 Dinner in The Riverside Restaurant with wonderful views across the Tyne.

10.30-12.30 Practical Workshop session on the theme of Revealing Nature, led by artist
Nicola Moss. This will be held in the ceramics workshop close to the lecture theatre
