description: Linda Crook (b. 1946) is a painter and sculptor, who studied fine art at London’s Camberwell College and Goldsmiths’ College, where she studied for her MA. She has exhibited at FIDEM since 1994, and one of her medals was recently shown in Beijing in an exhibition of treasures from the British Museum. Her medal commissions have included a medal for the Founders’ Company, about which Marcy Leavitt Bourne wrote in The Medal, 45 (2004), pp. 74-7.
I count Goats is the third medal by the artist to be issued by BAMS. She writes that the medal ‘is a reflection on insomnia. I try counting sheep, but they keep jumping around, and they aren’t sheep at all but goats!’
Applications are invited for the 'New Medallist' scheme, an initiative for artists based in Britain and Ireland who are relatively new to medal-making.
