The Bulgarian sculptor and medallist, Ivanka Mincheva, was the guest speaker at BAMS’ 1988 conference. Her BAMS medal bears a couplet from a ballad by John Gay. The medal suggests ‘beauty born in suffering; expectation, hope and the last resort, dreams’.
