12 May – 19 June 2015
A selling exhibition of contemporary medals has been mounted by Jean-Luc Baroni in collaboration with the British Art Medal Society. This is a radical departure for a gallery more used to hosting Old Master Paintings and Drawings. See http://jlbaroni.com/.
The exhibition has been made possible by the generosity of Jean-Luc Baroni, who is not only hosting the exhibition in his gallery but has also agreed to waive his commission, so that all the proceeds from sales go direct to the artists.
On top of this he has provided three prizes for medals in the competition. The judges of this competition were:
Sir Mark Jones, Master of St Cross College, Oxford; formerly Curator of Medals, British Museum, and successively Director of the National Museums Scotland and the Victoria and Albert Museum
Rick Scorza, scholar, art historian and council member of the British Art Medal Society.
The prizes have been awarded to artists Linda Crook, Abigail Burt and Danuta Solowiej.
