Friday 24 – Sunday 26 June 2016, Oxford.

Join the British Art Medal Society for a weekend in the historic university city of Oxford.

The weekend will begin with an optional extra for those able to be in Oxford on Friday afternoon.  A private tour of the Special Collections of the Bodleian Library will focus on some of the important numismatic and medal related manuscripts from the Bodleian’s collection housed in the newly renovated Weston Library.  See the separate Bodleian booking form or order online should you wish to attend. Numbers are limited, so do book early.

Our Saturday activities will be based at St. Cross College in the city centre. There will be a varied lecture programme on the theme of prize medals from a range of experts and artists including Shailendra Bhandare of the Ashmolean Museum.   We will visit the Ashmolean in the early evening for drinks and a private view of a new medal display All Must Have Prizes.  The formal Saturday dinner will be held in the college hall at St. Cross.  A medal room will be available at St. Cross from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon with opening times advertised in the programme. All delegates, whether artists or collectors, are invited to bring medals for display at their own risk.

Sunday morning activities will be held in the Project Space of the new headquarters of the Ruskin School of Art, Bullingdon Road.  Artist and BAMS medallist Maureen O’ Kane will continue the prize medal theme at a practical workshop, which is always such a fun, engaging and instructive part of the weekend.

A buffet lunch will be served back at St. Cross before delegates depart at 2pm.

BAMS has secured university accommodation at several locations close to St. Cross College.  Rooms will be allocated at time of booking.  Directions and check-in information will then be provided.  All rooms are on a B&B basis.

To book your place, please return the Oxford 2016 delegates booking form with your cheque to Janet Larkin, or order online:

Full residential fee – £275 per person

Reduced rate residential fee – £235 per person

Non-residential fee – £175 per person

A full programme will be sent to delegates in advance of the weekend.

Looking forward to seeing you!
