In 2015, Arnold Nieuwendam received the Marsh Award for the Encouragement of the Medallic Art. It is awarded to individuals and organisations who are considered to have made a significant contribution to the understanding, appreciation and encouragement of the art of the medal. The recipient is selected by the British Art Medal Society’s Council and the Marsh Christian Trust, and receives £1,000 donated by the Marsh Christian Trust.

From 2011 until 2013, the Marsh Award For the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded together with the BAMS President’s Medal. Since 2014, these have been awarded separately.

  • 2011, The President’s Medal and Marsh Award For the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded to Thomas Fattorini Ltd.
  • 2012, The President’s Medal and Marsh Award For the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded to Bogomil Nikolov.
  • 2013, The President’s Medal and Marsh Award For the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded to The Simmons Gallery.
  • 2014, The President’s Medal was awarded to the Worshipful Company of Founders and The Marsh Award for the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded to Andrew Griffiths.
  • 2015, The President’s Medal was awarded to the Worshipful Company of Cutlers and The Marsh Award for the Encouragement of Medallic Art was awarded to Arnold Nieuwendam.
